 Let’s look at goals first. Let's replace
our caveman with a video game player. A primitive
goal would be, "Die,
Baron of Hell, die!" Get through this guy
so you can get to the next level.
There are, of course, short-term
goals
and long-term goals. I’d like to beat my best
score but first I have to get through this round.
The
goal socially?
Romance. In the short
term, a pleasant date. In the long run, a
good relationship.

A
common goal of application users is to accomplish
the task,
whatever that may be. The long term goal may be
success at a job, or just getting a one more task
out of the way.
